Transdev Canada is hiring a Casual Transit Dispatcher / Scheduler for our Abbotsford location, with support required in Chilliwack as needed.

As a Casual Transit Dispatcher / Scheduler, you will play an important role in supporting safe, efficient, and reliable transit service by coordinating operator schedules, dispatching service, and responding to real-time operational challenges. This is a fast-paced role where your communication, organization, and decision-making directly support service delivery and the communities we serve.

What you’ll do

• Prepare and manage daily driver schedules and vehicle assignments

• Dispatch transit operators in accordance with service requirements, policies, and operational needs

• Monitor service in real time and respond to operational challenges as they arise

• Communicate effectively with drivers, supervisors, and management to support smooth daily operations

• Track and input data related to attendance, service delivery, and incidents

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in scheduling and dispatch systems

• Assist with coverage planning for vacations, sick days, and unexpected absences

• Support HandyDART dispatching and scheduling as required

• Assist with emergency response and service recovery plans when needed

• Follow all company standards, policies, and procedures

• Perform other related duties as requested or required

What you bring

• Minimum of two (2) years of dispatch or related experience required, supported by professional references

• Minimum Grade 12 education or High School Diploma required

• Dispatch training or certification is considered an asset

• Experience in dispatching, scheduling, customer service, or a related field is preferred

• Experience in transit, logistics, or operations is considered an asset

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and dispatch software

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Knowledge of local geography and public transportation systems is considered an asset

• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities while working alone

• Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused under pressure

Your location & schedule

• This is a casual, on-site, unionized position based in Abbotsford, with work in Chilliwack required as needed.

• Availability is required for evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on operational requirements.
