To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com What You’ll Be Doing As a Technical Writer for Private Wealth, Training and Development you will be responsible for designing, writing, and maintaining online documentation for CIBC Private Wealth employees both front line staff and their support staff for a successful launch and sustainment of changes for systems and projects. Documentation includes procedures, policy, and product information; standards and guidelines; legal disclosures and guidelines; change management messaging, news messages; job aids, etc. The Technical Writer need to understand the systems and/or changes being implemented. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview. The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $66,090 to $70,000.
The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.
In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

How You’ll Succeed Relationship Building- You build relationships and share relevant information appropriately with business partners or project stakeholders. You work closely with project team and if required, relevant business partners and the branch network to review materials for training. You work to understand potential impacts to existing training materials and look for opportunities to re-use or re-purpose existing training materials, where appropriate. You provide regular project updates and ensure the timely completion of necessary production and translation activities and handoffs during the creation of a solution. Operational Excellence- You will work closely and collaborate with business partners, ensuring the correctness and completeness of the information, while ensuring that design and wording are optimized to the needs of the audience. You’ll work with minimal supervision, keeping management informed while escalating any issues and/or concerns. You’ll help deliver larger communication work packages within the team, independently lead small to medium technical content work packages for team, actively participate in project meetings where needed to receive project updates, contribute to post-implementation review, proactively identify and documents updates to internal processes (e.g., job aids), support team members by sharing expertise, knowledge, and information. Business Acumen- You will create and optimize content for audiences including developing training materials for the WalkMe platform. You’ll make sure that information is clear, accurate and complete, following standards for plain language and design, along with CIBC intranet and department standards. You will plan and provide documentation plans and estimates of work effort, prioritize work to meet timelines and needs of the business unit and internal service level agreements, analyze documentation requirements to determine the impact and relationship with existing documentation, along with its effectiveness for its intended audiences, and recommend solutions to issues based on alternative options and experience. You will actively involve the end user in the design of documentation by soliciting feedback and identifying ways to improve the employee and client experience. You’ll suggest ways to improve navigation, design of documentation and online communications, and research alternate methods and applications for documentation. Strategy and Planning- You will collaborate with Agile Project team to understand project deliverables and requirements. Who You Are You put our clients first. You have strong awareness of business issues, processes, and outcomes as they impact Wood Gundy/Private Wealth management and our clients. You have a degree/diploma in technical communications or a related field. Bilingualism is considered an asset. You’re an experienced Technical Writer/Communicator. You have 5-to-7-year experience in Technical Writing and are skilled at quickly understanding the subject, context and message required and able to transform that into clear, easy-to-follow documentation. You can put yourself in the audience’s shoes and understand what they need to know, when and how they need to know it. You can demonstrate 5-8 years of experience in the financial services industry with highly developed knowledge of the wealth management business and experience working with Agile Environment and projects. You have strong skills in plain language writing and design. You have a knack for understanding your audience’s point of view and choosing plain and clear words and layout to make sure the message is not only understood but cannot be misunderstood. You know how to organize content into easily readable chunks, using industry-standard techniques for presenting information so it is easy to comprehend, use and remember. You use your experience and knowledge of WalkMe to set up content and learning, and in design and structure. Benefit in use the Admin Functions and features would be value added. You act like an owner. You understand how to create and manage content in an online environment. You have experience coding HTML or a related language, and you understand what’s involved in linking content from different pages or chapters together in a cohesive whole. You understand the principles and methods of metadata and search engine optimization (SEO). Values matter to you.
