Daycare Director
Junior Academy is a private elementary school located in Toronto for neurodivergent childrent from Kindergarten-Grade 8. In 2020, we added a small daycare within our facility consisting of 1 toddler (8 students maximum) and 1 preschool (9 students maximum) class.
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Daycare Director to oversee the daily operations of our centre and foster a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment for children. Our current Director will be transititioning into a different position within our School beginning August 31st and we are looking to begin onboarding of a new Director starting on August 17th, 2026.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing educational programs in accordance with Ministry and regulatory requirements, supporting and leading staff, and ensuring the centre operates efficiently and professionally at all times. This individual will demonstrate strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a genuine passion for early childhood education and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with purchasing supplies and resources required for the Toddler and Preschool programs.
- Ensure a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for all children.
- Oversee and coordinate curriculum planning in collaboration with staff to ensure compliance with Ministry of Education requirements.
- Ensure the centre and facilities comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and health and safety standards.
- Evaluate and purchase educational materials, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and ongoing support to teaching staff while encouraging professional growth and development.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train new employees, ensuring all policies, procedures, and legal requirements are met.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to remain current with daycare standards, best practices, and procedures.
- Maintain positive and professional communication with parents regarding their children and centre policies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) designation is mandatory
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a daycare or childcare setting.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor.
- Commitment to maintaining a professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic at all times.
