Climate Adaptation Curriculum Developer for Blooming Without Boundaries

About BEB Black Eco Bloom is a trailblazing sustainable development organization dedicated to empowering Black women and gender-diverse individuals in the environmental sector in Canada and globally. We provide a nurturing space for leadership development, aiming to cultivate a diverse and inclusive environmental and climate sector while raising awareness on the impacts of climate change on Black communities.
Black Eco Bloom is seeking an independent contractor to begin developing content immediately for our Climate Adaptation modules, which will be delivered as part of the Blooming Without Boundaries Fellowship program starting July 17.
The contractor will work independently to create three separate modules in the form of slidedeck presentations based on the following three themes: 1. Water 2. Energy & Just Transition and 3. Food Systems. The modules should:
reflect implementation strategies be relevant and localized to the Calgary region and surrounding area (Alberta) be informed by technical expertise be informed by a Black feminist perspective (featuring case studies, using research relevant to Black communities etc) contain an interactive component Eg. discussion questions, multimedia engagement, realtime feedback
Desired Qualifications:
Minimum 4 years of experience in climate action, climate justice, sustainability, or climate adaptation. A strong knowledge of Calgary and Alberta's environmental landscape. Ability to develop accessible and engaging educational content on water, energy and just transition, and food systems, grounded in technical expertise. Experience applying equity-focused and/or Black feminist perspectives to environmental and community-based work. Strong curriculum development skills, including designing interactive learning components such as discussions, multimedia activities, and participant feedback opportunities. Strong assets: Strong local Calgary connections and experience working with community, nonprofit, public, or private-sector sustainability and climate initiatives.
Compensation and Benefits This contract position will begin immediately. A draft submission will be reviewed during a mid-project check-in scheduled on or around July 3 to provide feedback and guidance. The final deliverables are expected to be completed and submitted by July 10. Compensation for this contract is a fixed fee of $1,250, payable upon successful completion and submission of all modules.
