About the role
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Performance Test Lead to improve the performance, stability, reliability, integration quality, and observability of a Guidewire insurance platform for a Confidential Client. This role focuses on performance engineering, system reliability, integration testing, and root-cause analysis across PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, batch processing, work queues, APIs, and distributed systems. Key Responsibilities Develop performance test strategies, plans, workload models, test scenarios, scripts, schedules, and execution plans. Design and execute performance, load, stress, peak-load, endurance, volume, reliability, and end-to-end system tests. Measure and monitor latency, throughput, error rates, integration success, batch stability, and work-queue performance. Validate performance across Guidewire PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, APIs, messaging flows, asynchronous processing, and cross-system data movement. Create performance test scripts for Web HTTP/HTML, TruClient, web services, REST APIs, and .NET applications. Evaluate batch processing, retry behavior, failure handling, bottlenecks, backlogs, and job stability. Analyze JVM and thread behavior, database queries, API latency, application bottlenecks, and system failures. Use logs and monitoring tools to identify root causes and improve system observability. Work with development and platform teams to improve performance, integration reliability, error handling, and overall system efficiency. Document defects, review test results, prepare performance reports, and provide recommendations. Support Agile sprints, release testing, and continuous performance improvement. Reduced error noise and improved platform observability. Accurate root-cause identification across application, integration, JVM, database, and infrastructure layers. Scalable and repeatable performance testing with clear reporting. RequirementsRequired Qualifications Strong hands-on experience leading performance, reliability, monitoring, and analysis for distributed systems. Experience creating performance test strategies, plans, workload models, scenarios, scripts, and reports. Hands-on experience with LoadRunner, JMeter, Gatling, StormRunner, or similar performance testing tools. Experience with Datadog, AppDynamics, Splunk, or similar APM and observability tools. Experience testing REST and SOAP APIs, asynchronous processing, messaging systems, web applications, services, and .NET applications. Ability to analyze JVM and thread behavior, database performance, API latency, throughput, batch execution, and integration failures. Experience creating stress, peak-load, endurance, volume, and other workload-based test scenarios. Proficiency in at least one programming language. Strong root-cause analysis and troubleshooting skills. Experience working in Agile environments with technical and business stakeholders. Strong analytical, reporting, collaboration, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Guidewire, especially PolicyCenter and BillingCenter. Knowledge of the property and casualty insurance domain, including policy and billing processes. Experience with batch processing, job scheduling, and work-queue systems. Background in site reliability engineering, platform engineering, or systems quality engineering. Experience with WAS tuning, JVM tuning, PL/SQL tuning, and bottleneck analysis. Experience integrating performance testing into DevOps and CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge of CI/CD, test-driven development, cloud development, application resiliency, and security. Experience with cloud-based application performance testing and tuning. Experience using Micro Focus Quality Center or a similar defect management platform.
