As a Field Training Coordinator you will play an important role in developing, maintaining and organizing the delivery of technical, practical (hands-on) training to support skill development across a wide range of positions within the field operations. You will coordinate operations-specific training related to process improvements, procedure updates, and the implementation of new technologies, tools, and equipment. You will also work closely with members of our learning and development team and work force planning coordinators across the business unit to ensure the integration of informal and on-the-job training (OTJT) with new and existing formal training programs. As a Field Training Coordinator, you will also work directly with subject matter experts and operational leadership to develop appropriate content for field and OTJT and skills evaluation. Primary duties include:

  • Deliver presentations, including onboarding sessions, training orientations, and information sessions, to diverse audiences (new employees, front-line staff through to supervisors, and leaders) to groups ranging from small groups to large audiences of 50-60 participants.
  • Coordinate training logistics and administration, including scheduling sessions, booking facilities, liaising with trainers/speakers/workforce planning coordinators, preparing/photocopying materials and handouts, tracking attendance, completing data entry, ensuring assessment/documentation is completed and returned, and providing any follow up and post-event reports and support as needed.
  • Support OTJT programs by training and orienting trainers, peer coaches, and assessors.
  • Provide one on one and small group support and guidance on new tools/technologies.
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal partners and team members to coordinate multiple concurrent training activities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Develop processes and tools to coordinate and bring consistency to practical, field, and OTJT across the field operation.

Qualifications

  • A completed 1 year certificate in Education, Social Sciences, Business, Communications, or a related discipline with at least 5 years of experience in developing, implementing and evaluating workplace learning programs in an operational environment; OR
  • A completed 2 year diploma in the outlined above with at least 3 years relevant experience in outlined above; OR
  • A degree in the outlined above with at least 1 year of experience in the outlined above.
  • A valid class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent) and ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
  • Previous experience working in an operational environment with field employees would be considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires the ability to work independently, take initiative and solve problems.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and communication skills will be important to help synthesize complex technical information.
  • A strong client service orientation and the ability to work effectively with a diverse client group is essential.
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills and have demonstrated proficiency in effective digital file management.

Workstyle: This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Compensation: Pay Grade 9 $41.49 - 55.51 per hour

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week

Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
