Job Title: Human Resources Associate (6-month contract)

Position Summary
A motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources graduate seeking a position to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting. Eager to support HR & Corporate Services initiatives, contribute to the team’s success, and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic work environment while developing a deeper understanding of HR best practices.
The Human Resources Administrator will have three key deliverables during their work term:
Capstone project – opportunity to lead an initiative that would further develop analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Identify, evaluate, and recommend an enhancement to at least one existing Human Resources & Corporate Services process. This project would include research findings, potential benefits, risks, and implementation considerations with a presentation of the recommendations to the HR Directors Team by the end of the term. Support the development and implementation of training materials, including presentation decks and program outlines, for 4 courses within the Leading for Impact leadership development program during the work term. Assist with the job evaluation process by creating a framework, track project plan, and contribute to career mapping and updating job descriptions for two key functions in the company.
Responsibilities
The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
Support with various HR generalist activities including HR reporting through research and data analysis, HR programs and process review; Coordinate job evaluations for new roles, re-evaluations, prepare documentation and maintain workflows and records; Update and standardize job descriptions, job families, and career frameworks; Analyze LMS data to optimize course offerings and identify learning needs through surveys and feedback; support expansion of relevant training content; Develop training materials, including course outlines and presentation decks; Manage training registration, communications, and participation tracking; coordinate logistics and provide in-session support to ensure a smooth learning experience; Assist with scheduling meetings, interviews, ensuring calendars are well-coordinated and up to date; Assist with recruitment activities, including resume screening, initial candidate assessments, and analysis of recruitment metrics; Support onboarding initiatives and research best practices to enhance recruitment and onboarding processes; Assist in drafting/reviewing HR policies, procedures, and internal communications; Participate in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives and program planning; Assist with preparation of annual employee engagement survey; Provide reception coverage as needed, responding to general inquiries, and directing requests appropriately; Provide backup as needed for mailroom operations, including sorting, distributing, and tracking incoming and outgoing mail and packages; Research AI tools to support HR processes; and Perform other duties as assigned.
Academic/Professional Requirements
Undergraduate degree or post graduate certificate in Human Resources from a recognized university or college. Minimum of 1 year work experience in Human Resources is preferred.

The expected annual base pay range is: $50,000-$55,000. The base pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. SmartCentres values the contribution of our Associates, and our individual salaries may vary based on the geographical location of successful candidates, as well as their experience, qualifications or skills.
