About the role
Our client, a well-established organization located in the heart of Mississauga, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team for an initial 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional with strong month-end close experience who enjoys financial reporting, process improvement, and working in a collaborative team environment. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities Support the monthly financial close process, including the preparation and posting of journal entries Analyze and allocate revenue and expense transactions across various products, business units, and regions Prepare and maintain detailed account reconciliations and supporting schedules Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages Extract, organize, and analyze financial data using advanced Excel techniques Support budgeting and forecasting activities through the preparation of financial models and reporting templates Assist with tax-related reporting and data compilation as required Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information uploaded into the ERP system Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting efficiency Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support to the accounting and finance teams
Qualifications CPA designation (completed or in progress) is preferred 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, or a related finance function Strong hands-on experience with month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including working with large datasets, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial reporting Experience working with large ERP systems; exposure to platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or similar enterprise accounting systems is considered a strong asset Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to work onsite in Mississauga 3 days per week
