Sr. Android Engineer

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Android Engineer to help build and enhance customer-facing mobile experiences for a platform serving millions of users. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and scaling content placement and recommendation experiences within the mobile application.

This opportunity is ideal for engineers who enjoy owning features end-to-end, collaborating across disciplines, and building products at significant scale.

Location: Toronto, ON (Remote available — must be based in Canada )

Contract Length: 6 months

Pay: $40 - $50.00/HR CAD

Team: Enterprise Retail

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain native Android applications and features. Build customer-facing functionality that enhances content discovery and engagement. Collaborate with product, design, backend, and platform teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Integrate mobile experiences with backend services using GraphQL. Participate in code reviews, testing, and technical design discussions. Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices and development workflows. Support deployment and release activities within a CI/CD environment. Deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable code.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of professional mobile development experience. Expert-level proficiency with Kotlin. Experience building and maintaining native Android applications. Experience working with GraphQL APIs. Strong understanding of Android architecture and modern development best practices. Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of solutions. Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience developing applications used at large scale by millions of users. Combination of startup and enterprise experience. Experience with recommendation systems, content delivery, or customer engagement features. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development tooling.
