Warehouse/Yard Labourer – Seasonal

Location:  Oakwood, Ontario

Wage:  $20.00 to $24.00 per hour

 

We are currently seeking a dedicated and hardworking Seasonal Warehouse/Yard Person to join our team. This position involves various tasks supporting the daily operations of our warehouse and yard. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining an organized workspace, assisting with inventory management, and ensuring materials are safely handled and stored.

Key Responsibilities

•             Maintain a clean and safe warehouse operation.

•             Create and maintain a layout to optimize the flow of product in and out.

•             Plan and organize warehouse operational logistics, ensuring the highest level of accuracy and

              documentation.  

•             Perform inventory on a regular basis

•             Establish and maintain correct storage and handling protocols with staff to mitigate  product  

              damages/losses.

•             Identify, communicate, and arrange for maintenance and repair work.

•             Prepare and submit weekly reports to manager(s).

•             Work with patrons in a courteous and professional manner.

•             Perform warehouse duties including driving loaders, forklifts, and trucks.

•             Lift & load medium to heavy packages (up to 50 lbs).

•             Pick up and deliver product to customers as needed.

•             Perform other duties as assigned.

•             Work additional hours to meet peak-period business demands.

Health and Safety Expectations 

     Safety is a core value at Sunderland Co-op. Employees are expected to:

•             Operate only equipment and machinery for which training has been received.

•             Report any equipment malfunctions immediately to the Supervisor.

•             Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as approved.

•             Comply with all Company Health and Safety Policies

•             Demonstrate a high degree of safety consciousness.

Required Qualifications

•             High school diploma (minimum)

•             Ability to lift/carry medium to heavy packages (up to 55 lbs)

•             Minimum G License

•             Minimum 2 years experience working in a warehousing/logistics operation.

•             Ability to work well under pressure, employing effective decision-making (judgment) in a fast-paced environment.

•             Possess good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively with managers, staff,

              customers, and dispatchers.  

•             Ability and willingness to work additional hours to meet business demands.

•             Ability and willingness to work in dusty, warm, cold environment.

•             Ability to work well as part of a team.

•             Accuracy and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

•             Forklift certification and experience

•             Basic understanding of agricultural/agronomy (seed, fertilizer, chemicals) products

•             DZ License

•             Farming background
