Major Responsibilities:

  • Conducts researches and prepares analysis reports relating to operations activities regarding productivity and performance, cost effectiveness and technical operations

  • Collects, maintains and analyzes data. Conducts field studies, survey and audits as appropriate such as monitoring AVL (automatic vehicle location) / GPS programs and report any abnormalities to the supervisor

  • Researches, establishes and documents benchmarks, reflective of best practices methods and procedures for performing tasks

  • Compiles, analyzes and correlates data and prepares reports and studies for submission to management and/or council on program related matters and maintain the records/documents in accordance with City standards for retrieval when needed

  • May be responsible for tracking development of capital projects in progress

  • Provides administrative support in creating, updating, and maintaining maps using appropriate mapping software

  • Assists with administrative support and operational duties for the Division

  • Develops and maintains statistical reports and other appropriate records, records contacts lists for the Division

  • Provides information and liaises with other organizations

  • Provide ad hoc reports on asset base cost, unit cost, program costs, and designing custom reports, as required

  • Prepares reports, and provides assistance to city and outside agencies and committees

  • Develops and designs presentations

  • Answers inquiries regarding program area

Key Qualifications:

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in the area of Geographic Analysis, Urban Studies, Urban Planning or related discipline or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in software packages such as the Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and mapping applications, e.g. ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, RouteSmart, Maximo, TMMS, (Toronto Maintenance Management System) and Compuweigh.

  • Experience in research, analysis and interpretation of data,

  • Experience in operations planning and service delivery.

You must also have:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

  • Strong organizational skills and analytical and problem-solving skills in combination with the ability to perform duties under minimal supervision.

  • Ability to handle matters of a confidential/sensitive nature appropriately.

  • Ability to use a variety of technical equipment related to asset management and GPS/GIS techniques/approaches.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, preparing clear and succinct reports and correspondence for Committees, Council and other stakeholders.

  • A good understanding of the technical and operational issues facing the division.

A valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License and ability to qualify for the City’s operating permit is considered an asset.
