Job Description

In operation since1993 Garden River Child Care Centre provides quality care and education for young children, infancy through school age, in an extended family style setting. Please visit our website at Child Care Centre - Garden River First Nation to learn more.

Garden River First Nation is looking for a Registered Early Childhood Educator. Garden River Child Care Centre is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating developmentally appropriate activities and experiences in accordance with the centre’s philosophy, providing care and education for young children in a group setting under the direction of the Program Manager.

What You Will Do

Providing a balance of active, quiet, indoor, outdoor, individual/group activities; Carrying out the daily program schedule incorporating activities and routines; Planning and presenting activities; Using a variety of teaching techniques including modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating and reinforcing; Work with your teaching team to plan, implement and review individual program plans; Attending to children’s physical needs for diapering, toileting, eating and resting as regularly and promptly as possible; Following Centre policies and behaviour guideline policies established by the centre; Reporting all accidents, injuries and illnesses to the Program Manager Perform Administrative duties

Required Skills

What you can bring to the role:

Required Early Childhood Education diploma or equivalent as approved through the provincial licensing process, and in good standing with the College of ECE; minimum of 2 years experience working in a licensed childcare setting; Working knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act; Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate; Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge of the First Nation cultural values and traditions; Knowledge, understanding and experience of First Nation culture, values, and traditions. Clear CPIC required as a condition of employment.
