We are currently seeking a Manager, Student Engagement and Leadership to join our Student Affairs team.
Job Overview
This role reports to the Director, Student Success. Reporting directly to this position are the Coordinator Transition Programs, Events Specialist, student assistants, student volunteers, auxiliary staff, and casual service contractors.
The Manager, Student Engagement and Leadership leads in the development, execution, assessment, and implementation of new student transitions and engagement strategies for KPU learners. Working with the Director, Student Success, the Manager is responsible for the strategic planning for efficient and effective operation of the Orientation & Transitions department. Through campus-wide collaboration, this position carries out the responsibilities related to the delivery of high-quality programs, services and events for all KPU students across all campuses.
Education And Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree in education, business, humanities, social sciences or a related discipline. Master’s Degree is preferred; Minimum of 1 years’ experience managing and leading a team. Experience with labour relations in a unionized environment is an asset; Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a post-secondary student services environment or recent related work in public educational sector with increasing responsibility; A minimum 3 years of relevant training and direct experience in first-year experience, event planning, or supporting individuals with disability and duty to accommodate issues; Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficient in fostering and sustaining positive working relationships with diverse parties, both internal and external, including corporate partners, community organizations, University administrators, and students, while delivering exceptional customer service. Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with students of diverse ages and backgrounds. Demonstrated sound judgment, sensitivity and problem-solving skills when working in stressful or complex situations. Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service. Demonstrated track record of effective leadership and team management within a unionized environment. Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects, leading and implementing change resulting in improvements to service quality, staff productivity and systems efficiency. Demonstrated understanding of the Canadian post-secondary system, strategic enrolment management concepts and academic policies and processes that contribute to a quality post-secondary experience. Exceptional presentation, written and verbal communication skills Proficient in the use of student information management systems (i.e. BANNER) and standard office applications including word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Word and Excel). Ability to travel between campuses is required.

Salary Information
The above compensation range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. Typically, initial salary placement is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum. This represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and approximately halfway of the salary range for a job with consideration given to internal equity.
