UNI199H1S – The Construction of Race in America: A History The course will explore the origins of racial categories in America. Drawing on primary sources such as memoirs, film, and government records as well as writings by scholars, we will examine how beliefs about these categories changed over time and with what consequences for the unfolding of American history. Minimum qualifications: A Master’s degree required in Social Sciences or Humanities. Preferred qualifications: Ph.D. preferred. University level teaching experience is preferred, with demonstrated evidence of superior undergraduate teaching. Relevant Criterion: Past teaching experience is the more relevant criterion than the need to acquire experience in respect of this posted position.
