Annual salary: $ 89,900.00 - 113,700.00
What you'll do
Working with a supportive team you will learn new skills while contributing to the load forecast which is used to make
strategic decisions impacting future electricity supply for the province of B.C. This is a great opportunity to develop your
analytical skills and build your BC Hydro network.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide analysis related to energy and peak forecasting to support the main customer sectors including residential,
commercial and industrial.
- Develop load forecasts through research, analysis of historic data, review of economic modelling assumptions, and the
evaluation of the data's applicability to future trend projections. The analysis and forecast are mainly done with linear
multivariate regression modelling.
- Maintain variance model to compare monthly actual electricity sales to forecasted sales. Present and report on results to
team and other business groups, as required.
- Write, review, edit and format technical reports and documents.
- Initiate changes to planning methodologies as the result of technological and software developments.
- Monitor industry developments with respect to models and forecasting methodologies. Make recommendations on
incremental forecasting model and process improvements.
- Maintain liaisons with internal stakeholders.
What you bring
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in relevant discipline such as economics, statistics, engineering, business, or mathematics
- Minimum 2-5 years relevant work experience involving quantitative analysis in an area such as:
o data and statistical analysis
o load research and modelling
o electricity load and energy analysis
- Competent with the MS Office suite, in particular Excel.
- Competency in additional analytical and programing software would be considered an asset. Examples include: SAS,
Statistically Adjusted End-Use (SAE) models, PowerBI, Python, R, Matlab, Metrix ND, Metrix LT, Tableau, or Microsoft
Fabric.
- Preference will be given to candidates with existing knowledge of BC Hydro data sets, for example, familiarity with BC
Hydro data system including customer classification by rates, billing data and hourly load data extraction.
- Demonstrated business writing and report preparation skills.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving capability.
- Demonstrated oral communications skills, including the ability to make presentations to cross functional teams.

What else you should know
- This is a temporary full-time position for approximately 14 months – August 2026 to September 2027
- This hybrid job is headquartered at BC Hydro’s downtown Vancouver office with in-office attendance required minimum
two and sometimes up to five days a week.
