SAP Technical Business Analyst Job Type: Contract Contract Duration: 12 Months Pay Rate/Salary: CAD 80-100/h on Inc Location: Calgary, AB

Your New Company A leading organization is seeking an experienced SAP Technical Business Analyst (TBA) to support an SAP S/4HANA transformation program. The SAP Technical Business Analyst (TBA) supports the program Business Lead and Solution/Technical Leads by translating business needs into clear, testable requirements and solution designs for SAP S/4HANA and integrated solutions. The role ensures requirements are traceable from process and controls through configuration, integrations, data, and reporting, and that they are communicated consistently across functional, technical, and vendor teams. This role works with the System Integrator, Functional, Technical, Data, Security, and Business teams to elicit and document requirements, facilitate design workshops, and enable test readiness through high-quality scenarios and defect reproduction details. The Technical Business Analyst maintains key artifacts in the controlled repository (requirements, decisions, and sign-offs) and escalates risks, scope gaps, and cross-workstream dependencies that impact timelines, compliance, or operational readiness.

Your New Role Top 3 Outcomes Clear, prioritized, and traceable requirements and solution designs for SAP S/4HANA and in-scope integrations. Aligned stakeholders and delivery teams through effective workshops, decisions, and governance-ready documentation. Improved business adoption and operational readiness via validated processes, roles/controls alignment, and testable acceptance criteria. Key Tasks Elicit, analyze, and document business and technical requirements, including integrations, data, reporting, and security/control needs. Facilitate workshops; capture decisions, assumptions, and dependencies; maintain traceability from requirement to solution and test evidence. Define user stories and acceptance criteria (or detailed requirements where applicable) and support backlog refinement and scope/change control. Support test planning by translating requirements into scenarios and expected results; support defect triage by clarifying intent and reproducing issues with evidence. Produce governance-ready reporting on requirement status, open decisions, risks/issues, and readiness impacts across workstreams. Requirements, Process & Solution Definition Elicit and document business and technical requirements for SAP S/4HANA capabilities, integrations, reporting, data, security roles, and control objectives. Facilitate workshops to define current/future processes, pain points, and desired outcomes; capture decisions, assumptions, and open questions. Maintain traceability from requirements to design, build, test scenarios, and evidence in the controlled repository. Backlog, Scope & Change Control Support backlog refinement by decomposing requirements into user stories (or detailed requirements), acceptance criteria, and dependencies. Perform impact assessments for change requests (process, data, integrations, security, testing, cutover) and support prioritization and decisioning. Design Validation & Build Support Review solution designs with functional and technical teams for alignment to requirements, controls, and non-functional needs. Support developers/configurators by clarifying intent, edge cases, and expected outcomes; ensure handoffs are complete and unambiguous.

What You'll Need to Succeed: Expertise Proven experience as a Business Analyst / Technical Business Analyst on large, integrated enterprise programs (ERP transformation preferred). Strong capability in requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and stakeholder facilitation; able to translate business outcome requirements and criteria. Experience working across functional and technical teams to define integrations, data, reporting, and non-functional needs (performance, security, auditability). SAP S/4HANA & Process/Controls Awareness Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA capabilities and standard process concepts, with the ability to engage in solution discussions and assess impacts to upstream/downstream processes. Awareness of controls and governance considerations (e.g., segregation of duties, approval design, audit evidence) and how they influence requirements and design. Analysis, Documentation & Governance Skills Skilled in producing high-quality artifacts: process maps, requirements specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, decision logs, and RAID/dependency tracking. Able to operate within stage-gate and delivery governance frameworks, supporting formal sign-offs and maintaining audit-ready documentation in controlled repositories. Strong facilitation and negotiation skills to resolve ambiguities, drive decisions, and balance scope, risk, and delivery constraints. Professional & Interpersonal Skills Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills; able to present complex topics clearly to both business and technical audiences. Structured, detail-oriented approach to documentation, traceability, and follow-through in regulated/governed environments. Education & Experience University degree in Business, Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline (or equivalent experience). 5+ years experience in business analysis / solution delivery, including participation in at least one major ERP implementation or transformation. BA or delivery certifications (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA, PMP, Agile/Scrum) are considered an asset. Testing & Quality Experience Proven experience leading end-to-end testing for large, integrated enterprise programs (SIT, UAT, Regression; performance testing support as applicable). Strong knowledge of test lifecycle management: scope, planning, scheduling, resource coordination, execution governance, reporting, and sign-off support. Hands-on expertise with defect management (triage, prioritization, ownership, retest planning, metrics, and trend analysis) across multiple teams and vendors. SAP S/4HANA & Clean Core Awareness Working awareness of SAP S/4HANA solution components and common integration patterns (interfaces, middleware, data replication), sufficient to drive effective SIT/UAT coverage. Familiarity with SAP delivery artifacts (process design, configuration rationale, transport strategy) and how they translate into test design and evidence. Test Governance & Delivery Skills Demonstrated ability to establish test governance (cadence, RAID management, decisioning, quality metrics) and operate within stage-gate frameworks. Experience delivering to entrance/exit criteria, quality gates, and evidence requirements aligned to program readiness and cutover milestones. Skilled in supporting risk-based test coverage and ensuring traceability from requirements/processes to scenarios and outcomes. Comfort working with and holding accountable project teams, system integrators, and vendors for test deliverables, execution discipline, and timely defect resolution. Tools, Reporting & Integration Awareness Experience with enterprise test/defect tools (e.g., SAP Cloud ALM, Azure DevOps, or equivalent) and producing audit-ready evidence packages. Ability to design and communicate quality dashboards (coverage, pass rates, defect aging/burn-down, severity mix, readiness risks) for governance forums. Understanding of how integrations, data migration/mock cutovers, and environment readiness impact SIT/UAT planning and execution. Professional & Interpersonal Skills Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to translate testing outcomes into clear go/no-go recommendations. Structured, detail-oriented approach to planning, documentation, and evidence management in regulated/governed environments. Education & Experience University degree in Business, Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline (or equivalent experience). 5+ years experience in enterprise testing / quality leadership, including participation in at least one major ERP implementation or transformation. Testing or delivery certifications (e.g., ISTQB, PMP, Agile/Scrum) are considered an asset.
