The Corporation of the City of North VancouverSenior Transportation Planner Temporary Full-timeThe City of North Vancouver is the urban core of the beautiful North Shore and has a long-term vision to be ?The Healthiest Small City in the World?, with five key priorities to be a City for People, a Resilient City, a Vibrant City, a Connected City and a Prosperous City. The City?s Infrastructure, Transportation, & Parks Department has an opportunity for a temporary full-time Senior Transportation Planner to join our Transportation Planning and Design team for approximately fifteen (15) months. Our team develops transportation policy, translates it into actionable plans and design guidance, and manages the programs that help the City deliver the Mobility Strategy vision of Healthy streets that work for everyone. Reporting to the Manager of Transportation Planning & Design, you will be a strategic lead in advancing our Transportation Network Plan and developing a modernized data strategy. You will oversee multi-modal studies at the neighborhood and corridor levels, providing expert policy guidance to shape infrastructure design and curb access strategy. As a subject matter expert, you will develop robust business cases for future investment and serve as a dedicated mentor, fostering the professional growth of junior planners across a diverse portfolio of urban mobility initiatives. This is a senior position for a professional planner who has demonstrated experience in advancing complex, strategic planning work. You will be a dynamic, results-oriented professional with strong communication, relationship-building and organizational skills, as well as the ability to influence and inspire others within multi-disciplined teams. You will have a University degree in an appropriate discipline, together with a post-graduate degree in Urban Planning and/or Engineering, relevant experience in transportation planning, or, an equivalent combination of training and experience. Membership or eligibility for membership in the Planning Institute of B.C. and the Canadian Institute of Planners.  Attendance at evening Council, committee and public meetings is also required. For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position. Salary:$66.13 to $78.36 per hour(Pay Grade 33 - 2026 rates) Hours of Work:The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle. If you are passionate about making the City of North Vancouver an even greater place to live, work and play, apply on-line through the Career Portal at www.cnv.org by Thursday, June 4, 2026. We are committed to being an inclusive employer?one that reflects the diversity of our community and values the unique contributions of each person.
