About the Opportunity Our client, a leading professional services organization supporting clients across the financial services sector, is seeking an experienced Manager or Senior Manager to support a large-scale Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) transformation initiative within the insurance industry. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside senior Finance, Risk, Audit, and business leaders to modernize governance frameworks, strengthen control environments, and help organizations transition from traditional certification programs toward mature, SOX-aligned control structures. Your work will have a direct impact on regulatory readiness, operational effectiveness, and long-term business resilience.

Your Responsibilities You'll lead assessments of existing ICFR and governance frameworks, identifying opportunities to enhance control effectiveness and SOX readiness You'll design and optimize key financial and operational controls across critical insurance processes In this role, you'll develop risk and control matrices, process documentation, control narratives, and governance frameworks You'll advise stakeholders on control design, accountability models, documentation standards, and governance best practices You'll support remediation and transformation initiatives, including control rationalization, standardization, and automation opportunities You'll partner closely with Finance, Actuarial, Investments, Claims, Underwriting, and Corporate Functions to embed sustainable controls You'll provide guidance on evolving regulatory expectations, governance requirements, and industry-leading practices
Skills and Qualifications 8+ years of progressive experience in internal controls, SOX/ICOFR advisory, risk management, audit, or governance functions CPA, CA, CPA (Canada), CPA (US), CIA, or an equivalent professional designation Demonstrated experience leading controls transformation initiatives within insurance or financial services organizations Strong knowledge of NI 52-109 requirements, SOX 404 frameworks, COSO, and governance principles Experience designing and enhancing controls across areas such as financial reporting, investments, actuarial processes, reinsurance, claims, premiums, treasury, and general ledger functions Exposure to IFRS 17 and insurance finance transformation initiatives is considered a strong asset Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and consulting skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders
