Position Overview
Responsible for providing administrative support to maintain efficient operations of the section or division including compiling and preparing correspondence, documents, reports, conducting research, etc.
Responsibilities
• Collect and analyze energy consumption data from all City facilities, including electricity, natural gas (Enbridge), water usage, and EV charger electricity consumption and charging data. • Utilize Excel and other analytical tools to organize, visualize, and interpret data. • Conduct research to identify incentives and programs related to energy savings and climate change adaptation. • Assist in preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders. • Support the development and implementation of energy conservation projects. • Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate data collection and reporting. • Stay informed about the latest trends and developments in climate change adaptation and energy management. Other Duties • Performs other related tasks and projects as assigned, which are in accordance with job responsibilities or necessary department and corporate objectives. • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and the Corporate Health and Safety policy and related procedures. • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarian Disability Act (AODA) and related policy and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
• Enrolled in a university or college program related to climate change adaptation, architecture, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering, or a recent graduate who completed their program within the past one (1) year. • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, etc.), coupled with proficient and accurate keyboarding skills. Willingness to learn other specialized computer software applications and techniques as required. • Excellent research and data analytical skills. • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written including drafting correspondence, presentations, and reports. Demonstrated ability to research and gather information. • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. • Ability to deal courteously and effectively with internal and external stakeholders. • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. • Must be highly motivated and able to take direction
Preferred Qualifications: • Previous experience or coursework related to energy management or sustainability. • Familiarity with energy consumption metrics and data collection methods. • Knowledge of energy-saving programs and incentives. • Experience with RETScreen or other related energy management/sustainability software as an asset.
Work Environment: Standard office environment. On-site visits to various City facilities as needed. The Intern will work 35 hours per week and must be able to manage time effectively to balance data collection, analysis, and reporting tasks.
