About the role

Your Opportunity:

Join our Acute Care Team at the Cold Lake Healthcare Centre as a Registered Nurse (RN) making a meaningful impact at this rural hospital with acute care having 24 active inpatient beds and 4 obstetric beds. In this role you will be working to the full scope of your practice providing nursing services for urgent medical conditions, post-surgical, pediatric, maternity, the Stroke Centre, etc. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, where evidence-based practices are valued. The emphasis on patient and family-focused care ensures a holistic approach to healthcare delivery. The RN in this role, will utilize assessment skills to make decisions about patient care. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential as RNs assess, coordinate and participate in total nursing care for patients and supervise in accordance with CRNA nursing practice standards. The opportunity to work to the full scope of an RN while having support for career growth is invaluable as cross training may be initiated and expected for all areas of the facility, such as the ER and OR. Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:

Labor and delivery experience is an asset but not required; training in obstetrics is to be expected and is offered on site. Neonatal resuscitation is an asset but not required; training in NRP is to be expected and is offered on site. Cross training to other nursing departments within CLHCC may be necessary. Expectation of OBS and Charge Training. Cross training to other units may be necessary - Including ER and OR.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ideally you will have a minimum of 1-2 years in medical/surgical or emergency department as registered nurse. Charge nurse, obstetric, and neonatal resuscitation (NRP) training and experience. Training will be provided and an expectation if successful candidate. Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) training. Ability to cross train to other units in facility. Training will be provided and may be an expectation if successful candidate.
