Emera Energy is currently seeking a Co-op, Corporate Accounting student for the Fall 2026 term (September 7 – December 18) within the Corporate Finance team. This 16-week opportunity provides hands-on experience in financial reporting, settlement processes, and accounting operations within a dynamic business environment.

In this role, you will gain valuable exposure to month-end close processes, financial analysis, and corporate accounting activities while working closely with professionals across the organization.

What you’ll do:

As a co-op student, you will contribute to key accounting processes and support financial operations within the Corporate Finance Team. This includes:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and support general ledger monitoring, including full working paper and audit file preparation, account reconciliations, and analysis
  • Assist with settlement activities, including invoice reconciliation, payment processing, and monitoring bank account activity
  • Work closely with internal teams to resolve settlement discrepancies and ensure accuracy
  • Prepare government and regulatory reports related to business activities
  • Provide customer service support through telephone and email communications
  • Assist with routine and ad hoc financial reporting and analysis

  • Developed a foundational understanding of the marketing and trading business
  • Strengthened your analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Developed the ability to work independently in a professional accounting environment
  • Built experience delivering effective customer service in a finance setting

Who you are:

You’re a motivated and detail-oriented student in your 3rd or 4****th year of a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) program, looking to develop your accounting and financial reporting skills in a collaborative environment.

You bring:

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team-focused environment
  • Solid business acumen and a customer-focused mindset
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, along with experience using financial reporting systems
