Career Opportunity Learning Center Teacher L’nu Sipuk Kina’muokuom (LSK) school (Full-time, 2-Year Term)

Closing: July 24, 2026 Anticipated Start Date: September 1, 2026 Salary Range: Based on NSTU Salary rates

General Description Reporting to the LSK Principal, the Learning Centre Teacher will be responsible for working with students with diverse needs and delivering lessons and activities designed to meet their individual goals, while providing teaching strategies that respect the rights of students at LSK. Responsibilities: Instruction & Student Learning – 40% Deliver instruction aligned with Nova Scotia curriculum guidelines. Plan and deliver lessons and learning activities tailored to meet the individual goals of students with diverse learning needs. Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that supports student achievement and well-being. Individualized Student Support – 30% Lead the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and implement Individual Program Plans (IPPs) for students requiring specialized supports. Ensure appropriate Educational Assistant (EA) coverage for each Learning Centre student on a daily basis. Assessment & Student Progress – 15% Prepare, administer, and assess assignments, quizzes, and other learning activities to monitor student progress and inform instruction. Maintain accurate student attendance records and report absences to the Principal in accordance with school policies and regulations. Communicate student progress regularly with teachers, administration, and parents/guardians in accordance with school policy. Learning Centre Management – 10% Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming Learning Centre that supports effective teaching and learning. School Community & Professional Engagement – 5% Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school functions as required. Collaborate with teachers, Educational Assistants, administration, and other school staff to support student success.

Qualifications and Experience/Skills include but are not limited to: Valid Nova Scotia Teaching Certificate/License. No minimum experience required. New graduates welcome. Knowledge of inclusive education is considered a strong asset. Physically able to manage dysregulated children who may be a flight risk and/or are unable to manage their physical responses. Proficient with Email, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) with ability to learn new software. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Indigenous and/or Mi’kmaw communities/organizations. Must have access to reliable transportation. A Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry check is required. Working Conditions 5 days per week, Monday to Friday 8:15am to 3:15pm daily, 35 hours weekly
