Accountant Co-op Student
About the role
The Municipal Group of Companies, based in Bedford Nova Scotia, is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of heavy civil construction, mining services, environmental services and transportation and courier services within the Atlantic Provinces. We are currently seeking the qualifications and expertise of a Co-op Student Accountant for our operations based out of Bedford, NS beginning in September 2026 to December 2026.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
Assist in daily maintenance of accounting records (including but not limited to preparing deposits, journal entries, reconciliations, petty cash, capital assets) Perform internal audit procedures Provide timely and accurate service to internal clients Assisting with Accounts Payable Reconciling vendor statements for the Municipal Group of Companies Spreadsheet development and maintenance using Microsoft Excel Data input and integration with our accounting system (Event Software) Filing and file maintenance Provide timely and accurate information to external clients Other duties as required by the Department
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, And Experience
In the process of pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field required. Excellent communication skills High attention to detail and accuracy Utilizes strong organizational and planning skills Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point, Outlook) Reliable transportation is required as our office is not located on a bus route
