Your Opportunity:
The Child, Youth and Family Mental Health and Addiction Program is seeking an Addiction Counsellor III (ACIII) to provide outpatient, community‑based services for children, youth, and families. This role is designed to be flexible and responsive, supporting a broad range of clinical and program needs that may evolve over time. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the ACIII will be based out of the outpatient clinic located at the Melcor Centre, with service delivery occurring in clinic, school, home, and other community settings as appropriate. The position reports to the Manager and receives clinical support and guidance from a Clinical Supervisor. The ACIII will carry a caseload and provide assessment, intervention, care planning, and coordination for children, youth, and caregivers experiencing substance use and concurrent mental health concerns. Evidence‑informed screening and assessment tools will be used to identify client and family needs, inform individualized treatment plans, and support timely responses to urgent or complex situations. Strong clinical judgment and the ability to support families experiencing elevated risk are essential. The successful candidate will participate in case consultation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and psychiatric consultation processes. This role also contributes to team learning and capacity‑building by sharing expertise in child and adolescent substance use and addiction care. Facilitation of therapeutic and/or psychoeducational groups may be included, based on program needs. This position may be required to work evening hours to support the needs of the population. Roles and responsibilities may adapt over time to align with the changing needs of children, youth, and families and the evolving priorities of Recovery Alberta’s mental health and addiction services.
