About the role

Overview Four Mile Mortgage is hosting Tomas van Loon (age 16) as an unpaid research intern for Summer 2026. The arrangement is structured as an educational, project-based experience — not as employment. Tomas will produce independent research that may inform future business decisions and that he can present as a demonstrable work product for college admissions. Duration: Approximately 11 weeks Hours & Schedule Estimated 18–20 hours per week, subject to his football training schedule (which takes priority). Specifically: Monday–Wednesday: ≤2 hours/day remote (reading, research, writing) Thursday–Friday: In-person at the Denver office, approximately 10:30am–5:30pm Total hours will not exceed applicable minor labor law limits for Colorado. Nature of the Work This is a structured, research-only role. Tomas will not perform any line work, answer phones, handle customer interactions, or displace any paid employee's duties. His work consists entirely of: Learning the Four Mile business through the company's existing training materials and shadowing loan officers Researching two strategic questions (a new marketing channel and a new product line) Producing a written research report and presentation

Project Deliverables A written research report (~8–15 pages) evaluating: (a) Connected-TV advertising via vibe.co as a potential new lead-generation channel, and (b) purchase mortgages as a potential new product line A presentation deck summarizing findings and recommendations Presentation to Mike van Loon (President) at the end of the summer Supervision Tomas reports directly to Mike van Loon (President, Four Mile Mortgage). No Texana Bank employees are expected to supervise, manage, or dedicate significant time to his program. Shadowing of loan officers is voluntary and observational only. Compensation None. Both parties understand there is no compensation, no expectation of compensation, and no guarantee of future employment. Systems Access Tomas would benefit from a Four Mile email address and read-only or supervised access to relevant systems for training purposes, subject to Bank approval. Primary Beneficiary Test — Summary This arrangement is designed to benefit Tomas, not Four Mile. His work is educational in nature, tied to his own professional development and college admissions goals, limited in duration, and does not displace any paid employee's responsibilities.
