Senior Java Developer – Spring Boot / Microservices / Kafka Calgary | T4 Contract | Hybrid, 3 Days Onsite End Client: Global Investment Bank About the Role Our consulting client is seeking a Senior Java Developer to lead the design and implementation of scalable Java-based applications and microservices. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop reliable systems, integrate real-time data streaming capabilities, and provide technical guidance to the development team. This position requires strong hands-on expertise in Core Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST Web Services, Kafka, Oracle, and PL/SQL. Experience within Cards and Payments or Asset and Wealth Management environments is highly valued. Responsibilities Lead the design and implementation of scalable microservices architecture to improve system performance and reliability. Oversee the development and deployment of RESTful Web Services that enable seamless communication between applications. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the development team while supporting a collaborative and innovative environment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Integrate Kafka for efficient data streaming and real-time processing within the application ecosystem. Use Oracle and PL/SQL for database management, data integrity, and performance optimization. Implement Spring Boot and Spring Core frameworks to support modular and maintainable application development. Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, development best practices, and application design principles. Support system integration, troubleshooting, deployment, and ongoing application enhancements. What You Bring Strong expertise in Core Java and enterprise application development. Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Spring Core. Proven experience designing and developing Microservices. Strong experience developing REST Web Services and RESTful APIs. Hands-on experience with Kafka for real-time data streaming and event-driven processing. Strong knowledge of Oracle databases and PL/SQL. Experience leading technical design and mentoring development teams. Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Experience conducting code reviews and enforcing coding best practices. Domain experience in Cards and Payments is preferred. Domain experience in Asset and Wealth Management is an asset. Ability to work onsite in Calgary three days per week. Ability to successfully complete all required background verification checks. Compensation The hourly rate for this contract position is up to $57 CAD per hour on T4. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, contract structure, and other relevant factors.
