About the Opportunity Our client, a leading organization in the Oil & Gas industry, is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join their team in Sarnia, Ontario. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer with experience managing multiple capital projects in a downstream manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will lead a portfolio of projects ranging from $1 million to $50 million in value, overseeing projects from authorization through execution and closeout. This is a hands-on engineering role, not a people management position. The Process Engineer will work closely with design teams, contractors, operations personnel, and project stakeholders to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions within a brownfield operating facility. Please note: This is a full-time, onsite position. Remote work is not available.

Key Responsibilities Manage multiple concurrent capital projects valued between $1M and $50M from project authorization through completion and closeout. Lead engineering and design activities during front-end engineering and detailed design phases. Develop and review process design specifications, including: Heat and material balances Process flow diagrams (PFDs) Equipment sizing and design Hydraulic analyses Utility balances Process control philosophies Instrumentation requirements Materials selection Safety system requirements Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and project team members. Oversee and review engineering contractor deliverables to ensure compliance with company standards, project specifications, and owner requirements. Conduct and lead process optimization studies to identify operational improvements, cost-saving opportunities, and process enhancements. Participate in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) Reviews and other process safety assessments. Support commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities for new and modified facilities. Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. Establish project execution strategies, engineering organization requirements, and resource planning.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline. 5–15 years of Process Engineering and/or Project Engineering experience. Experience managing capital projects within the petroleum refining, chemical processing, or oil & gas industries. Proven experience leading multiple projects simultaneously in a brownfield manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed engineering, commissioning, and startup activities. Experience working directly with engineering contractors and reviewing technical deliverables. Knowledge of process safety management principles and participation in HAZOP studies. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments with changing priorities and tight project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications Oil & Gas industry experience. Downstream refining or petrochemical manufacturing experience. Experience supporting operating facilities and brownfield capital projects. Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng.) or eligibility for registration is considered an asset.
