Your opportunity:As a Senior Financial Officer, you will be working closely with various departments across UTM to ensure that business transactions are aligned with general accepted accounting principles and the University's financial policies. You will also be involved in complex financial analysis. You will be bring a strong understanding of accounting principles and be able to apply them to various issues. You will also possess superior verbal and written communication skills and a high level of professionalism. Your responsibilities will include:  

Overseeing the financial management of budgets that include strategic planning, analysis and forecasting Advising staff on accounting practices and University financial policies and procedures Forecasting and planning financial activities incorporating budgets with multiple sources of revenue and/or recoveries Implementing plans and process improvements for financial administration activities Analyzing information to identify spending trends and recommend cost-saving measures Analyzing complex statistical reports and/or financial information for management decision-making Identifying and analyzing data discrepancies and taking necessary actions to correct errors Conducting financial research and analysis

  Essential Qualifications:  

Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in accounting or acceptable combination of equivalentexperience. Accounting designation an asset. Minimum five years relevant financial budget and accounting experience Demonstrated experience with budgets, forecasts and variance analysis Experience performing complex financial data modelling and analysis Strong ability to identify critical issues and problem solve independently Experience dealing with various levels in the organization Excellent attention to detail Advanced computer skills: Microsoft Office: Excel (Advanced formulas & functions, PivotTables), Word, PowerPoint Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  Assets (Nonessential):  

SAP experience an asset Demonstrated cost accounting experience an asset
