Hours Temporary Part time (to September 2026), up to 24 hours per week

Essential Duties

Specific to this role:

  • Lead recreational activities by preparing activities for children and teens, organizing the necessary supplies and equipment to facilitate sessions, and monitoring program participants, ensuring adherence to safety protocols during activities
  • Maintain logs and prepare reports on program performance and participation
  • Assist with the coordination of special events

As a member of the operational team:

  • Administer defined procedures and recommend solutions to challenges or process improvements
  • Work collaboratively with others to deliver the outcomes as defined; report any challenges to the manager and/or supervisor
  • Respond to customer service concerns; participating in problem solving and providing information to manager and/or supervisor, as appropriate
  • Maintain documentation, databases and corporate records in accordance with policy and divisional practice; consider legislative municipal requirements such as the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA)
  • Procure services and goods as authorized by the manager and/or supervisor
  • Provide data or input on processes to allow reporting and decision making
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Possess current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certificate
  • Minimum three (3) months related experience working with children, preferably in a recreation environment (municipal programs or camps)
  • Demonstrated time-management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines
  • Possess and demonstrate the knowledge, skills and personal attributes as described in the key performance competencies outlined below
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications, the internet and any other related software
  • Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence or the ability to frequently attend work related activities at various sites within the municipality
  • Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, will be required
