Description:The Buddhism, Psychology and Mental Health Program at New College seeks a sessional lecturer from September 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026 for the following in-person course: BPM339H1F – Mind, Consciousness and the Self An interdisciplinary study of theories of mind, consciousness, and the self, placing Buddhist traditions in dialogue with scientific theories of the mind in psychology. Enrolment Estimate: 45 students Estimated TA Support: None Class Schedule: Lecture: Monday 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Salary: Sessional Lecturer I: $9,997.47 Sessional Lecturer I (Long-term): $10,699.21 Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.21 Sessional Lecturer II (Long-term): $10,953.96 Sessional Lecturer III: $10,953.96 Sessional Lecturer III (Long-term): $11,228.90 Note: This course will be delivered in an in-person format. However, please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery may change as determined by the Faculty or the Department Minimum Qualifications Completed or nearly completed Ph.D. with a scholarly background in an area related to Buddhist Studies, Mindfulness, and/or the intersections between Buddhism and Psychology and/or philosophical theories of mind. Teaching experience required. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching in a university setting is preferred. Responsibilities Normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; and holding regular office hours.
