About the role
Location: Ontario, Canada (Remote) Duration: 12-month Contract Hours: 40 hours/week Rate: $48–53/hour
We are seeking a Civil Engineer with experience in concrete and steel construction within the nuclear industry to support a major nuclear project. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in concrete engineering, quality, construction support, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities Develop, review, and approve concrete mix designs and batch plant submittals. Prepare and maintain concrete material and construction specifications. Ensure compliance with project requirements, nuclear regulations, and applicable codes and standards. Review and approve engineering and construction documents, including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Concrete Construction Plans, and technical procedures. Support concrete construction activities, including pour planning and quality reviews. Evaluate and resolve concrete-related engineering issues and provide technical recommendations. Review and respond to RFIs, design changes, and non-conformance reports. Collaborate with project stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams. Prepare technical reports, engineering analyses, and design documentation.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Experience in nuclear construction. Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete design and construction. Experience with high-density concrete mix design, testing, placement, and quality control. Knowledge of ACI 318, ACI 349, ASTM standards, and CSA A23 series (especially CSA A23.1 and A23.2). Strong understanding of nuclear quality and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with radiation shielding concrete. Knowledge of CSA N291 and CSA N287 standards. Familiarity with ASME Section III and Section XI. Experience with FMEA, containment pressure testing, aging management, concrete NDT, or repair techniques.
