Description:

  • Are you passionate about fostering meaningful economic partnerships and advancing Indigenous participation in business opportunities? This role plays a critical part in supporting the organization’s commitment to increasing Indigenous involvement across its supply chain, projects, and operations.
  • As part of the Supply Chain Management – Indigenous Engagement team, the Indigenous Engagement Advisor will lead efforts to create inclusive economic opportunities for Indigenous communities and businesses. The role focuses on building strong partnerships, enabling access to contracting opportunities, and ensuring that Indigenous engagement goals are embedded within procurement and project delivery processes.
  • This position requires a collaborative professional who can balance strategy development, stakeholder engagement, and operational execution to drive long-term, sustainable impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute Indigenous Economic Engagement Plans (IEEPs) for projects and operations within a defined region.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Indigenous participation across the supply chain.
  • Align engagement strategies with organizational objectives and community priorities.
  • Integrate Indigenous engagement requirements into procurement and contracting processes.
  • Identify direct contracting opportunities for Indigenous businesses.
  • Implement and monitor adherence to Socio-Economic Requirements of Contractors (SERC).
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with:
  • Indigenous communities
  • Indigenous businesses
  • Internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Public Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability teams to support engagement initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on Indigenous economic participation.
  • Support contractors in meeting Indigenous engagement commitments.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with SERC requirements.
  • Provide guidance and tools to help contractors achieve Indigenous participation targets.
  • Promote awareness of procurement and contracting opportunities within Indigenous communities.
  • Facilitate connections between Indigenous businesses and project teams.
  • Advocate for inclusive procurement practices and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience, ideally in:
  • Supply chain management
  • Procurement or contracting
  • Indigenous relations or community engagement
  • Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities and businesses is strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and resolve complex issues.
  • Ability to work effectively:
  • Independently
  • Within cross-functional teams
  • Preference may be given to candidates who identify as Indigenous.

Working Conditions:

  • Office Environment
  • Travel to Indigenous Communities, other Enbridge offices, operating regions, and/or supplier locations (domestic and foreign) including time outside of standard business hours, as the need arises, with some locations requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).
