About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, Ottawa 67’s, the Hockey Operations Assistant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day functions of the hockey operations department. This role works closely with coaching staff and support personnel to ensure seamless execution of team logistics, league compliance, and player services. The position is highly operational, requiring strong attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

This full-time, fixed-term role has an annual salary of $45,000 with 100% employer-paid benefits. The final compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications. This is a new position and requires a fully on-site work arrangement.

What you’ll do:

Team Operations and Logistics:

  • Coordinate and maintain daily and weekly team operations schedules, including practices, games, meetings, off-ice training sessions, and all related logistics and bookings with OSEG and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication across Hockey Operations, Coaching Staff, and support staff to support daily team operations.
  • Coordinate and manage all team travel logistics and itineraries for a 30-person travelling group, including transportation, accommodations, meals, practice arrangements, while ensuring compliance with league standards, operational requirements, and budget guidelines.

Player Administration & Services:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date player records, including registrations, contracts, league documentation, player eligibility, and CHL registry submissions.
  • Track player transactions, injuries, suspensions, and roster movements in coordination with the General Manager while supporting CHL reporting requirements and league deadlines.
  • Serve as a point of contact for players and parents regarding team logistics, game tickets, special events, and operational communications.
  • Support player onboarding and administrative programs, including welcome materials, team documentation, expectations, and player reimbursement coordination.
  • Work closely with the Billet Coordinator to support housing logistics and player transitions; before becoming lead-point for all housing logistics and player transitions (as of January 1, 2027).

Camps, Draft Support & Community Events

  • Coordinate/support logistics efforts for community events and team appearances as required in partnership with OSEG Marketing / Community Department.
  • Assist with CHL draft preparation logistics (meetings, materials, scheduling).
  • Support training camp and development camp operations.
  • Additional projects may be assigned by the General Manager.

What’s needed:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Sport Management, Business, or related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in hockey operations (CHL, Junior A, U SPORTS, or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of CHL structure, rules, and player development model.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to pro-actively problem solve.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including strong relationship management with young players.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Able to work extended hours during training camp, trade deadlines, and playoffs.
  • Must be available for evenings, weekends, and travelling with the team throughout the CHL season.
