Crofton House School is currently seeking a Robotics coach to join the Senior School Robotics team (Grades 8-12). As a Robotics Coach, you will work collaboratively with the teacher sponsors and student club captains to deliver a program that develops students’ knowledge of global issues and supports their involvement at Robotics competitions.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver practices for Robotics club members on Thursdays after school from 3:20 - 4:30 pm.
- Work in partnership with the teacher sponsors and club captains to promote, plan, and deliver a Robotics program that meets the needs of new and experienced club members.
- Act as a supervisor and support for students at Robotics competition(s) as needed.
- Provide additional resources, training, and support to students as they prepare for robotics competitions.
- Support and develop the leadership abilities of the Robotics student club captains, including preparing and equipping them to independently run the Monday practices.
- Attend planning meetings with the Robotics teacher sponsors, and club captains to review progress and future plans.
- Maintain open communication with the teacher sponsors and school administration.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
- Participate in school-initiated training such as: Respect in the Workplace and Safeguarding
- Other responsibilities as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience:
- 1 - 3 years of experience coaching, teaching, or mentoring youth (ages 13–18), ideally within a school, camp, or community club environment.
- Strong foundational knowledge in robotics platforms (VEX V5, FIRST, or FTC preferred) and engineering design principles.
- Competency in programming languages relevant to robotics (C++, Python, etc.) and familiarity with basic hand tools and design software (CAD experience is an asset).
- Experience organizing competition logistics or tournament preparation, an asset.
- Demonstrable awareness of the learning styles of girls and young women.
- Committed to the standards of professional practice.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A valid BC Teaching Certificate is an asset but not required for this co-curricular coaching role.
Employment and Application Details:
This role starts September 2026.
Compensation: From $2000 - $2500 depending on experience and time commitment.
