  About the role Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full Time Laboratory Assistant to join our dynamic Diagnostic Services Testing team. The Testing team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by performing routine and complex laboratory testing on patient samples. These services help provide critical diagnostic information that supports patient care. In this role, you will contribute to laboratory operations that support timely and reliable diagnostic testing for patients.  Formula for success

Drawing on your knowledge and experience in laboratory functions, you will receive, accession, process, and prepare patient samples for testing.   Package and ship patient samples to external testing facilities. Perform routine equipment maintenance, reagent preparation, maintain laboratory records, filing systems, and record retention activities in accordance with quality requirements. Work collaboratively to support the quality and integrity of laboratory testing and maintain a safe laboratory environment. Desired education and skills

Completion of secondary education and minimum 1 year of laboratory work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A post secondary background in science is preferred. A certificate in a Medical Laboratory Assistant program would be considered an asset.
Technical skills including MS Office, and the ability to learn systems and programs, as required.
Must have good oral and written communications skills.
Ability to follow instructions precisely, prepare and maintain accurate records, and carry out repetitive tasks.
Experience in food processing, pharmaceutical or biologics manufacturing is a strong asset.

Training will be the Full Time 7.00am-3.00pm or 6.00am-2.00pm. Schedule will be Monday-Friday 7am-3pm or 6am-2pm. No weekends or stat holiday's. Physical requirements for the role include the ability to lift weight up to 10 kg (22 lbs.)
