As a Senior Teaching Fellow you will:

  • Assist with  the delivery of effective teaching practices within Deakin Medical School-Rural Communities and suggest approaches to innovative teaching practices to achieve student learning experiences to support success and engagement.
  • Teaching practices include; bedside tuition within the Portland/Hamilton or Colac/Camperdown regions, teaching at Face to Face meetings in Ballarat, Warrnambool and Geelong and delivering online sessions.
  • Apply industry, clinical and/or research practice to student learning experiences, success, engagement and resources.
  • Assist  teaching teams and collaborate with other unit teaching teams within the course to develop and refine effective unit curricula, clinical/professional education experiences, and comprehensive learning resources.
  • Contribute to the review of units and courses and implement refinements to enhance educational outcomes.
  • Assist with innovation,  unit-level curriculum design in partnership with unit chairs, delivering learner-centric, research-informed teaching and incorporating the latest practice knowledge across all levels and modes.                                                                                                                                                                  

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A PhD or equivalent qualification (such as Fellowship of a relevant College) in a relevant discipline.

  • Be a medical graduate, registered with AHPRA.

  • Hold the FRACGP or FACRRM, or be close to sitting the respective Fellowship examination.

  • Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs with evidence of innovative and effective pedagogical approaches.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead curriculum development and educational enhancement initiatives.

  • Evidence of mentoring or supporting colleagues to improve teaching practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage with professionals
