Yoga and Fitness Instructor
About the role
Job Summary: This position is classified as an Independent Contractor. The Yoga and Fitness Instructor is not an employee of the institution and will operate independently. The contractor is responsible for their own taxes, benefits, equipment, and work arrangements, and will not be entitled to employee benefits.
Duties: Lead customized Yoga sessions, tailoring instruction to meet individual goals and physical capabilities. Visually assess participants to determine skill levels and ensure exercises are performed safely and effectively. Develop and maintain professional relationships with members, ensuring excellent customer service and client retention. Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and proper setup of the Yoga studio and equipment. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and injury prevention procedures; report any incidents and complete necessary documentation. Provide first-aid treatment as required and coordinate additional care when needed. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: • A minimum of 2+ years of experience teaching Yoga • Certification in Yoga from a recognized organization. • Background in Kinesiology or experience working with clients recovering from injury is considered an asset. • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate from a recognized provider, with CPR-C and AED Certification. • Successful completion of Criminal Record Check.
Skills and Abilities: • Ability to work both independently and within a class-based team environment. • Excellent verbal communication and motivational skills. • Strong customer service skills with a focus on professionalism and client care. • Availability to work daytime, evening and weekends, with • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
