About the role
Job Summary:
Provide administrative support to the Human Resources department through communication of policies and procedures and updating the HR systems accurately for the duration of covering a 12-month Maternity Leave.
Required Qualifications:
- College diploma or University degree in a Human Resources Management or a related field
- Minimum 2 years related work experience
- Related experience in an Unionized environment is an asset
- Excellent English Communication Skills (oral and written)
- Fluent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge in computer software for windows
- Must have knowledge and understanding of OHSA and WSIB rules and regulations
- Experience working with HealthSafety Committees and WSIB claims management
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and time management skills
- Critical thinker, attention to details and problem solving skills
- Experience working with ADP is an asset and/or ability/understanding of processing payroll procedures and regulations
- Experience working with SAP is an asset

Responsibilities:
- Assist with the maintenance of the company's Performance Management systems; Performance Appraisal process, Progressive Discipline process and Performance Improvement Plan
- Manage in coordination with the Production Supervisor the temporary worker population
- Perform recruitment tasks; job descriptions creation, sorting resumes, and postings
- Coordinate the Martinrea Orientation Model for all temporary and full time employees. Complete the necessary administration to ensure they are entered into the HR systems accordingly
- Ensure all system requirements are being met for tracking of company training; update employee/department training records in HR systems; update employee's files and follow-up where necessary
- Administer benefit provider, Claimsecure; update employee changes in on-line system and assist employees with benefit questions and submission of form
- Assist employees with concerns and answer questions on the Martinrea Employee Handbook and other HR related questions
- Maintenance of employee files and communication boards; by keeping communication boards current and tidy and ensure employee files are neat, organized and up to date
- Identify and implement improvements for HR department, to ensure runs as efficiently and effectively as possible
- Perform reception duties involving multi-line phone and voicemail systems
- Responsible for typing correspondence, reports, minutes and providing support to all departments
- Responsible for scheduling internal and external training
- Prepare new employee information for payroll and create files
- Prepare and balance payroll for processing
- Responsible for attracting new candidates and setting up interviews for future positions
- Responsible for tracking all employee information such as; service dates; pay increases, performance reviews, birthdays, attendance etc.
- Participate and Organize 'Leave it Better' Sustainability Meetings, Events, and update applicable spreadsheet
- Maintain employee WSIB files and comply with all WSIB legislation
- Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human resources policies, and Martinrea Employee Handbook
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Understand and be compliant with all Federal and Provincial laws as it relates to Harassment and Violence in the workplace.
- Compliance with Corporate policies and procedures
- May be required to travel to an alternate work location as well as travel for meetings; conference; training
Working Conditions
- Working in an office environment majority of time, some plant floor time required (PPE required)
- Frequent distractions and interruptions
- Multiple demands in a challenging and fast paced – team orientated environment
Effort/Physical Demands
- Sitting in office environment; walking/standing while out on shop floor
- Constant communication with employees, peers, management
- Use of computer, telephones, printers, fax machines, etc.
- Overtime as required
- 4 quarterly scheduled inventory (on a Saturday)
Health and Safety Responsibilities
- Obey all safety rules, exercise caution in all work activities to comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Must wear all designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Must report all accidents and near misses to your Supervisor
