ABOUT THE ROLE 

Abell Pest Control is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Marketing Student to join our digital marketing team on contract. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in search engine optimization (SEO) and the emerging field of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), helping shape how our content is discovered by both traditional search engines and AI-powered search platforms.

Working closely with Abell's Digital Marketing and Website teams, you will help improve our online visibility by optimizing website content, enhancing site structure, and implementing technical SEO best practices that increase our authority and discoverability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with the Digital Marketing and Website teams to improve website visibility through SEO and GEO strategies.
• Optimize existing website content for search engines and AI-driven search experiences.
• Restructure web content using clear heading hierarchies and logical information architecture.
• Implement schema markup and structured data best practices to improve search visibility.
• Enhance content readability, relevance, and authority across key service pages.
• Identify opportunities to improve AI citation potential and visibility within AI-generated search results.
• Conduct keyword and competitive research to identify content optimization opportunities.
• Monitor SEO performance using analytics and reporting tools.
• Track and report on key performance metrics, including search rankings, organic traffic, and AI Overview visibility.
• Stay informed on emerging SEO, GEO, and AI search trends and recommend new optimization strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently enrolled in a Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, Business, or related post-secondary program.
• Strong interest in SEO, digital marketing, content strategy, and AI-powered search technologies.
• Excellent written communication and editing skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Familiarity with Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, or similar SEO tools is considered an asset.
• Basic understanding of HTML, structured data, or schema markup is an asset.
