About the role

We Are Accepting Applications For Following

Position: Spare School Bus Drivers

Location: Edson, Lobstick & Hinton, Alberta

Start Date: Duties to commence immediately for trained individuals.

The competition will remain open during the 2026 - 2027 School Year

Grande Yellowhead Public School Division (GYPSD) is the third largest geographical school division in Alberta, spanning a vast area from Evansburg west along the Yellowhead Highway to Jasper, and north to Grande Cache. Operated from the Education Services Centre in Edson, the transportation department manages 54 school bus routes across five distinct zones within Yellowhead County, safely transporting over 2,200 students and covering more than 8,000 kilometers daily.

To ensure continuous, reliable operations across this extensive network, the Division employs Spare Drivers on a day-to-day basis to safely transport students to and from school in the absence of Permanent Full-Time School Bus Drivers.

Qualifications

Valid Class 5 Driver’s license Physical ability to perform required duties, and pass a functional assessment.

No experience? We provide the necessary training!

Courses are held monthly, and successful completion is required for all division staff.

The Division

Grande Yellowhead Public School Division stretches from Jasper National Park, east to Evansburg, south of Cadomin, and northwest to Grande Cache. The jurisdiction includes 17 schools, 5 Learning Connection Centres, approximately 5000 students and 600 staff. The Division is governed by seven elected Trustees.

In accordance with Board Policy, the successful applicant will be required to provide the following:
