About the Role We are seeking an experienced Safety Advisor III to join a major oil & gas construction and well site operation in Cold Lake, Alberta. This is a hands-on field leadership role supporting site operations, contractors, and project teams to ensure the highest standards of safety performance and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with site leadership, EPC contractors, and frontline personnel to drive a strong safety culture, provide field-based safety oversight, and support incident prevention initiatives across active construction and operational environments. This position is primarily based in Cold Lake, with the potential to support future operations in Kearl as project requirements evolve.

Key Responsibilities Provide safety and health support to site leadership teams and EPC contractors. Monitor and promote compliance with company safety standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Conduct field inspections, safety observations, audits, and hazard assessments. Support safe work execution through participation in pre-job meetings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments. Develop and update safety standards, instructions, and documented safety practices. Review project designs and facility upgrades for compliance with company and industry safety requirements. Respond to incidents and emergency situations, providing technical safety support and guidance. Participate in the development and delivery of safety education, awareness, and promotional programs. Prepare safety communications, presentations, and educational materials as required. Mentor and support other safety professionals within the organization. Build strong working relationships with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders. Support the ongoing measurement and reporting of site safety performance metrics.

Qualifications Required Extensive experience in construction and industrial safety roles. Previous experience supporting construction projects and contractor workforces. Prior oil & gas experience. Strong knowledge of safety management systems, hazard identification, and risk mitigation. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative project environment. Willingness to work rotational schedules and live away from home during shifts. Ability to work in demanding field environments and varying weather conditions. Fluent English communication skills (written and verbal).

Preferred Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. Professional safety designation (CRSP, NCSO, CSP, or equivalent). Experience working within large EPC project environments. Experience supporting multicultural and multilingual workforces.

Working Conditions Field-based role with significant site presence. Initial assignment will be on a night-shift rotation. Exposure to construction sites, operational facilities, and remote work locations. Must be fit for duty and capable of working in physically demanding environments, including walking uneven terrain, climbing stairs and ladders, and spending extended periods in the field.
