About the role

The Department of Music at the University of Prince Edward Island has an opening for a Sessional Instructor for the Winter 2027 semester. This position is subject to final budgetary approval. Individuals qualified to teach the following course are encouraged to apply. Please note that members of the Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty Members of the Department of Music will be given priority.

Please note: the course offered below will be taught in person.

MUS-3215 – Business of Music

This is a practical course intended to introduce students to the skills and tools needed to build a successful career in music. The instructor will guide students toward: defining career goals; preparing a professional portfolio of their work; learning how to create online content and promotional materials; learning about entrepreneurial opportunities and business issues in the arts; and studying successful arts enterprises. Ideally, the students would be engaged in work-integrated learning projects.

Qualifications: The ideal applicant will hold a minimum of a master’s degree in music, with substantial related teaching experience at the university level, and a demonstrated record of success as an arts entrepreneur.

Classes: T/Th 8:30 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. (3 credit hours)
