NAIT is on the hunt for a Communications Specialist to provide strategic communications support to the Academic Quality and Operational Excellence (AQOE) team. AQOE is a department that strengthens academic quality and streamlines operations across the institution, spanning new program development, learning design, scheduling, apprenticeship coordination, and more. If you love taking complex information about advancements in education and turn it into engaging content for students and employees, you might be exactly who we are looking for. We are looking for a strong writer and collaborative team member who brings a strategic mindset, thinks creatively, and is open to new ideas. You enjoy supporting change communications and helping teams communicate in ways that feel human, clear, and motivating. In this role, you will report to a Communications Strategist and support internal communications across multiple channels. You will also contribute to broader team projects with your generalist communication skills. Working closely with academic leads within AQOE and colleagues in Marketing and Communications, you will help build understanding, alignment, and momentum for AQOE initiatives. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role perfect for someone detail-oriented, organized, and energized by a fast-paced environment. You will juggle multiple deadlines, balance priorities across the portfolio, and create content that helps the NAIT community feel informed, connected, and excited about what’s coming. Key Responsibilities: Write, edit, and publish engaging internal communication plans that translate institutional and academic quality-related updates into accessible, informative, and motivating narratives. Develop content that supports ongoing awareness of AQOE priorities, progress, and impacts. Produce promotional materials for workshops, leader sessions, engagement activities, and internal events. Maintain a regular communication cadence that helps employees stay informed and connected to NAIT’s change initiatives. Implement feedback loops to understand staff sentiment and engagement with communications. Track engagement metrics to assess content performance and channel effectiveness. Recommend improvements based on analytics, staff feedback, and emerging needs. Skills & Abilities: Strong strategic communication and planning skills are essential. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to simplify complex information. Comfort working with deadlines, shifting priorities, and fast-paced environments. Experience with intranet systems, digital publishing tools, and basic multimedia coordination. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams. Familiarity with AI and LLM tools to support efficient content development is an asset. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and alignment with brand and editorial standards. Qualifications: A diploma or degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. 3-5 years of experience in communications. Experience with internal communications is an asset. Experience writing for web, newsletters, or organizational audiences preferred. Exposure to basic multimedia workflows is an asset. Remuneration: Refer to salary range noted on this posting, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
