What You’ll Do
As a Custom HandyDART Driver, you will:
- Safely transport HandyDART clients in accordance with BC Transit and company policies, following all traffic laws and safety rules.
- Adhere to client booking times and scheduled routes.
- Provide courteous, professional, and personable service to customers, including:
- Greeting & escorting clients at their door (residence, facility, or pickup point) and introducing yourself
- Assisting with safe boarding and de-boarding of passengers. (ie. physically assisting clients from their door to the vehicle and the same at drop-off)
- Loading, securing, and unloading mobility devices (e.g. wheelchairs, walkers)
- Engaging with passengers in a friendly, respectful manner, answering questions, and making helpful announcements
- Collecting correct fares and selling HandyDART tickets to clients
- Complete required reports and documentation accurately and on time.
- Follow emergency and collision procedures when required.
Compensation
- Training Wage: $18.19 per hour
- Starting Wage: $23.83 per hour
- Additional: $0.40 per hour in lieu of benefits
What You Bring (Required Qualifications)
- Valid Class 2 or Class 4 (unrestricted) driver’s license.
- No criminal convictions or pending charges related to the operator position.
- Able to meet all ICBC Commercial Licensing requirements.

- Strong customer service skills, including:
- Physically and mentally able to perform all required duties (including assisting passengers and securing mobility devices).
- Communicate effectively with clients and caregivers
- Complete reports and document any safety or service-related incidents
- Ability to understand, speak, and write English
- Willingness to work:
- Regular day shifts
- Weekends
- Some evenings
- Limited statutory holidays
Nice-to-Haves (Bonus Points)
- Good knowledge of the Prince George area, including street names and key locations within city limits. Previous experience working with or transporting persons with disabilities.
