Requirements: The Ideal Candidate would possess the following background, philosophy, and experience:
- Bachelor of Psychology, Social Work or Counselling with advanced practice in the assessment and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioural disorders. Master of Psychology, Social Work or Counselling (or a significant completion of this program) is an asset.
- The successful candidate will have specific knowledge and training in school counselling and be able to support regular classroom teachers with specialized teaching strategies in regards to supporting mental health.
- Experience in an educational setting. Supervision duties will be assigned throughout the day as a part of the school community team.
- Providing training and support to teachers for students for social and emotional development, anxiety and strategies to build student resilience and independence is needed.
- Deliver preventative “best-practice” interventions and related psycho-social development programs as approved by the Division.
- Comply with provincial regulations and Division policies with respect to the provision counselling services and learning supports.
- Experience with making referrals for therapeutic support and outside agencies who support students and families.
- Track caseload data and evaluate the effectiveness of counselling services, learning supports and student responses to interventions.
- Comply with provincial regulations and Division policies with respect to records management.

All candidates must hold or be able to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate, have knowledge of curriculum and teaching experience at those levels/subject areas and demonstrated interpersonal and classroom management skills
