Location: Halifax, NS
Salary Range: $21.00/ per hour
Employment Term: 10 weeks, June 2026- August 2026 (Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:00 pm, 40
hours per week)
Reports To: Family Programs Manager
General Description:
Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre is centrally located in the urban Indigenous community of
Halifax and is looking for One (1) Day Camp Supervisor. The Day Camp Supervisor will be
responsible for providing daily supervision of camp counsellors and campers, while implementing
summer camp program. We are looking for someone who loves working with children and would
enthusiastically work to ensure children have the best possible experience in our programs. This
is a designated position for applicants with Indigenous ancestry.
Key Responsibilities:

Supervise Day Camp Counsellors

Be responsible for program funds, including collecting fees and paying for activities

Plan the weekly calendar of activities and events for Urban Indigenous Day Camp

Be a caring leader through the summer for all campers

Actively engage and play camp games with campers

Maintain a collaborative and positive attitude while working in a team setting

Communicate effectively and professionally with campers and staff

Facilitate recreational programs, including activities such as games and arts and crafts

Keep rooms organized and clean

Participate in activities with the children, including swimming

Provide outstanding communication with co-workers, children, parents and guardians

Purchase supplies/material required for campers

Provide feedback/address issues from Day camp Counsellors

Willing and able to supervise campers in a swimming pool setting

Ensure a fun, safe atmosphere for all campers and staff

May perform other related duties as required
Qualifications & Experience;
- Must be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of employment (designated youth
position)

Excellent communicator, both spoken and written

Experience working with children ages 5 to 12 years

Dependable and consistently works to uphold MNFC ethics and standards

Certified in Emergency First Aid + CPR

Previous experience in a supervisory role considered an asset
