Temporary Full-time

The Infrastructure, Transportation & Parks Department requires temporary full-time Labourer 2 employees for the summer season (starting in April for approximately six months).
In this position, you will assist and participate in routine construction, repair, and maintenance tasks on Streets work sites. You will operate a variety of tools such as jackhammers, tampers and drills; rake asphalt; prepare road base for paving; act as a swamper for equipment operators; assist in the construction and repairs of sidewalks, curbs and gutters and perform related semi-skilled tasks on roads and pavements. You will perform rough carpentry construction and repairs tasks and assist in sign installation and road marking operations.
Considerable experience in general construction and maintenance work is required, along with a good knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment particularly as it relates to road maintenance and concrete construction. You must have a demonstrated ability to perform heavy physical labouring / manual work. A valid Class 5 BC Drivers License is required. You must also be able to deal effectively with the public and embrace values such as teamwork, respect, a positive attitude, professionalism and integrity.
Salary:
$35.62 per hour
(2026 rates)
Hours of Work:
7:00am – 3:30pm Monday to Friday
