Tax Manager – 14 Month Contract About the Opportunity

Canadian Corporate Tax Lead Canadian corporate income tax compliance for parent and subsidiaries (T2 returns, schedules, loss pools, SR&ED where applicable). Manage quarterly and annual tax provisions for Canadian entities; track installment payments, CRA correspondence, audits, objections, and APAs. Maintain and optimize tax attributes (losses, credits, SR&ED/ITCs, safe income, CDA, PUC) and support transactions, reorganizations, and financing. Oversee indirect tax considerations in coordination with Indirect Tax (GST/HST/PST/QST touchpoints). Tax Provision and Financial Reporting (IFRS and US GAAP) Own quarterly and annual income tax accounting (ASC 740/IAS 12): current/deferred tax, effective tax rate analysis, valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions (FIN 48), and tax footnotes. Prepare and review tax provision workpapers, memos, and internal controls (SOX/CSOX), including return to provision and rate reconciliation. Coordinate with external auditors; ensure timely, accurate disclosures and support for audit requests. US Tax Exposure Support US federal and state compliance for US subsidiaries/branches (Forms 1120, state returns) in partnership with external advisors. Analyze cross-border issues: withholding taxes, treaty claims, transfer pricing, GILTI/FDII/BEAT assessments where relevant, and state nexus/apportionment. Monitor changes in US tax law and assess financial statement impacts. Partner with FP&A and Legal on intercompany policies, documentation (Master/Local files), cost sharing/CSA, and yearend tune-ups. Coordinate Country by Country, T106/T1134/T1135 and other international information filings. Advise on M&A, integrations, funding, and cash repatriation; model after-tax outcomes and ETR impacts. Train finance partners on tax concepts; communicate clearly with non-tax stakeholders and leadership.

About You Education: CPA (Canada) required; US CPA or MTax an asset. Experience: 6–9+ years in corporate income tax with a focus on Canadian tax; strong ASC 740/IAS 12 experience; exposure to US federal/state taxation. Technical skills: Deep knowledge of the ITA, Canadian compliance, loss/credit management, and tax accounting (deferred, VAs, UTPs). Working knowledge of US concepts (Subpart F/GILTI, FDII, BEAT, state nexus).
