Clinical Manager, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit – Temporary Full Time
About the role
POSITION SUMMARY A key member of the Patient Care Leadership Team, the Clinical Manager is responsible for the operational and clinical functioning of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the Critical Care Response Team (SPOT Team). Working with the Operations and Medical Directors, the manager will be involved in the ongoing evaluation and planning of these services. This includes establishing and monitoring outcome and safety indicators to advance evidence-based practices that meet strategic goals and support departmental objectives.

JOB DESCRIPTION Manage and supervise clinical teams within the portfolio. Work in collaboration with staff and physicians in other PCLTs/ departments to ensure effective and efficient delivery of patient care/services Foster a child, youth and family centered approach to care. Foster an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to care. Create and monitor metrics for clinical teams within the portfolio to ensure optimal patient outcomes and excellent service delivery. Manage human resources effectively which includes: hiring staff, managing staff performance, managing attendance, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting performance appraisals and dealing with performance related issues, imposing discipline, recommending terminations, work in collaboration with the Staffing Office to ensure adequate coverage of staff within the portfolio to provide quality service, ensure staff have the required resources to carry out their functions Follow up on incident reports generated through the Safety Reporting System. Manage budgets within assigned amounts, monitoring expenses and processing payments. Participate in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives using an evidence-based approach. Participate on committees, working groups, meetings acting in a leadership, liaison and/or consultative role. Create and monitor outcome and safety indicators. Support the development and/or updating of policies and procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned by Operations Director
QUALIFICATIONS Criminal Record Check (PRC) (Essential) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or other health field (Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements (Essential) Minimum of five (5) years clinical and leadership experience combined (Essential) Three (3) years of clinical experience in a critical care area (Preferred) Proven ability in working effectively with all members of the health care team (Essential) Ability to be an effective change agent (Essential) Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient care (Essential) Ability to respond to large numbers of simultaneous demands from patients, staff, physicians, human resources, etc. (Essential) Demonstrated leadership skills (Essential) Superior communication skills, oral, written, presentation (Essential) Excellent negotiation, problem solving and conflict management skills (Essential) Strong interpersonal and organizational skills (Essential) Bilingualism (French/ English) (Preferred) Knowledge of statistics and ability to analyze fiscal and patient care data (Essential) Computer skills (Essential) Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and teaching (Essential) Previous management experience in a hospital setting preferably teaching (Preferred) Demonstrated clinical research knowledge (Preferred) Master's degree or evidence of work toward completion of Master's degree in health care related field (Preferred)
