Admissions Specialists play a key part in the student’s lifecycle and enrolment funnel of domestic applicants. The incumbent applies strategic enrollment management principles to ensure that new applicants are progressing through the enrolment funnel by ensuring admission strategies are applied.
The admissions specialist serves as the first point of contact for many prospective applicants as well as program areas and several service departments. This position plays a key role in the ability of the institution to define and meet its strategic enrolment goals and has responsibility and/or influence for several key points in the enrolment funnel. The Admission Specialist is the face of the institution to applicants during the admissions process, responding to inquiries, issuing admission decisions and awarding of transfer credit.
Position Details
The incumbent will be assigned a portfolio of programs that they will be responsible for reviewing and determining admission eligibility for domestic applicants. The admissions specialist is the face of the institution to applicants during the admissions process, responding to inquiries, issuing admission decisions, and awarding of transfer credit.
The individual must monitor admission targets and accept qualified applicants accordingly to ensure maximum capacity.
Respond to general inquiries about polytechnic programs and services from the public, prospective students and agents.
Review applicants with previous post-secondary education for transfer credit consideration by working closely with the Articulation Specialists to determine equivalencies.
Work closely with other internal departments to resolve student issues or to review business processes.
Required Qualifications
Two-year College Diploma in Business Administration or Office Administration Effective communication, interpersonal and technical skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team
